Well it’s spring vacation (Easter vacation for all you red meat eating, right-wing conservatives). Being in U.P. tradition, it’s snowing right now and supposed to freeze overnight. Well on chilly nights like this it’s always nice to keep by a warm glowing computer screen and type scholarships. Ick…
I’m sick of being around the computer typing, I want to go outside (yes, even in the snow) but you know my mother… Well maybe you don’t, here let’s give a scenario: I take a break from doing scholarships, mom yells at me to get back to typing. There you have it
Anybody actually get anything from these scholarships? I think FASFA’s betrayed me, I do need financial aide!!!
When did schools have to become expensive? People are always raving how education is important and the government is pushing kids to stay in school, hasn’t anyone recognized that families have to morgage houses to pay for it?! Honestly I doubt it’s worth it, there’s a wealth of information available today that was never available even 10 years ago. I mean look what we have today: Blogs, Wikipedia, Digg, Podcasts. The sources have changed for the beter. Instead of the standard TV media, we can now get blogs and podcasts from people directly involved in the action, no censor no product placement no spin, just truth. Instead of the costly universities we can turn to wikipedia (which is useful if you CHECK THE SOURCES).
Now I’m not ripping into universities for their usefullnes, certainly they provide an education for those who use them. However, I think they’re portrayal of necessity is overrated. Realize how many people who are “successful” in the world today, and then realize how many of them did not graduate from college. It’s surprising.
What I’m really against is the whole “picking a major” deal with college. I want to go to college to learn, I look at it like a great encyclopedia or resource. There are so many things I want to learn, and they aren’t clumped into one catagory. I know I’m going to have many discussions with the student services office at Michigan Tech over my major
“But these classes have nothing to do with your major!” I can already hear it. It’ll be fun.
I’m going to Osaka Japan! I think
Either 2nd or 3rd year at MTU I’m going to try to be involved in the international exchange student program. It’s $20,000 for a full 12 months, hence the uncertianty. I’d really like to go though.
